Golden Goaltimate Tournamen
Held Saturday, June 10, 2000
Golden School of Mines -
Golden, Colorado
$1,000 in Prize Money:
1st Place - $500 -
2nd Place- $250 -
Co-ed: 1st - $250
Limited to 8 Open teams - (Seven per team)
4 Co-ed teams
(Seven per team with a minimum of 3 women)
We had a good turnout with about 50 players and six teams. Played a
one-day round robin tournament, each team played five matches with games 2 out of 3
to 6 points. Bob Pease's team went undefeated during pool play. Randy Ricks and Buzz Ellsworths' teams played a close game for the chance to play
Bob's team in the finals. Buzz faced Bob in the finals. There was a good crowd that stayed to watch Bob win the first play prize money of $500. All
the players were psyched to get cash! Everyone enjoyed themselves. The tournament introduced Goaltimate to a lot of people that had never played
before. Let's have another tournament this fall, maybe after Nationals are over.
It was easy to see by the end of the day, the players were beginning to understand how to play Goaltimate. The interest has been created, now we
need to continue the momentum that we've created.
