Goaltimate Made Easy - 10 Ways to Understand the Game

Disc is passed from player to player. Once the player catches the disc, they must establish a pivot foot and may not run with the disc. Momentum allows for 2 (two) steps.

Object of the game: To throw the disc through the arched goal with the disc then being caught by the Offensive Receiver in the 24’ x 24’ end zone.

Each goal is worth 1 (one) point unless the disc is thrown from the red line which then results in a 2 (two) point shot.

Team that scores the goal maintains possession and must work the disc back to behind the clearline before advancing for another score.

After a goal is scored the disc may not pass backward through the arched goal. The disc must be thrown around or over the arch.

Games are played to 5 (five) points apiece. The best 3 (three) out of 5 (five) game series to 5 (five) points wins the match.

After catching the disc, the players have only 5 (five) seconds to get rid of it. Listen for other players counting the "stall count" out loud on the field!

Teams have 7 (seven) players with 4 (four) on the field and 3 (three) in the substitution box. Players can substitute at any time during the game. The players can "sub on the fly", but must slap each other's hands without interfering with play.

Goaltimate is a non-contact sport. The game instills Sportsmanship with player's calling their own fouls on one another. Officials are on hand to quickly settle disputes and to call goals. Yellow cards and Red cards are administered by officials for infractions of mis-conduct, i.e.: flagrant fouls, abusive language. : 2 (two) Yellow cards in 1 (one) game, player sits for the game. 4 (four) yellow cards in a series and the player is out of the match. Red card is automatic player disqualification.

Violation if either player stands in the goal or the arch in front of the goal for more than 3 (three) seconds. Both offensive and defensive players must stay active within the goal or 3-second arch. First time is warning with second violation in a best 3-out-of- 5 series resulting in a power play by opposing team.
